While running on the road, I always run in the direction opposite to the traffic.
But I have seen many runners run in the same direction suggesting I should do the same too.
Today something happened, and it proved me right.
An interesting anecdote coming up shortly.
So while I was running today, I saw another runner running towards me. He was enjoying his run when suddenly he heard a loud horn by the truck that was right behind him.
Since I was running opposite to the traffic, I was able to see the truck, but he couldn’t.
The loud horn by the truck scared him. To save himself, he almost ran into me and fell down.
As I picked him up, I narrated a similar incident that had happened to me in the past.
A tempo had got hit by a truck and had come tumbling behind me. I could have been hit by the tempo, but was saved by a fraction of an inch.
I had had a narrow escape.
And from that day I had decided, I would only run in the direction opposite to traffic. That way I can see the vehicles coming up and be aware of them.
When I narrated this incident to him, he too was convinced running opposite to the traffic is the right direction to run in.
Sometimes in life, you feel you are running in the right direction. Then something drastic happens, and it shakes you up to make you realize that you were wrong.
You then change the direction and achieve big!
So no point mindlessly running in the wrong direction.
To be a peak performer, it is imperative you pause – to evaluate if you are really running in the right direction or not. If you have not been getting the results you have been looking for, it is a sign, you are not. It surely then is the time to change direction and achieve the big results you are aiming for.
