Look up, maintain a straight posture, and breathe in as much fresh air as you can!
During a marathon, as I had slowed down a fellow runner gave me this advice.
And all my runs after that have been a breeze.
So once while running a marathon, I was exhausted. I was dragging myself.
A fellow runner who I had met during one of my practice runs, slowed down to run with me.
He asked what was happening to me.
Nothing much, just a bit tired – I replied.
He then offered to run with me for a while. I agreed.
While running he observed that I had lost all my energy, was facing difficulty in breathing and was literally dragging myself.
He quickly knew what the real problem was.
And that is when he offered the gem of advice – Look up, maintain a straight posture and breathe in as much fresh air as you can!
It is imperative you stand tall.
I have been following this advice during all my runs. And especially during Navrun – as while fasting these runs can get quite draining.
Standing tall helps you look up, maintain a straight posture and breathe in. This helps you feel less tired and keeps you going with ease.
The same applies to anything that you do otherwise too.
Let’s say you are working on a project and you are stuck up at something. Despite your best efforts, you aren’t able to progress ahead. In this scenario, most common reaction is to put your head down, cover your face with your palms and keep thinking.
When the going gets tough, it is natural to feel low, upset or even frustrated at times. But all you have to do is keep calm, trust yourself, Look up–Stand Tall.
When you look up and take a deep breath you naturally calm down and start thinking from a fresh perspective.
And that gets you going once again.
When you feel stuck at anything you do–just Stand tall.
